Singapore-based Polybee, founded by Siddharth Jadhav in 2019, is scaling physical AI agents—self-recharging drones that monitor crop health, predict yields, and optimize harvest timing. As reported by AgFunderNews, the technology is already deployed commercially and can deliver 3x to 5x return on investment within a single crop cycle, making it a rare case of immediate, measurable ROI in agtech.

Polybee’s core innovation lies in combining autonomous drones, computer vision, and artificial intelligence to transform farming into a data-driven operation. The drones continuously scan fields, capturing plant-level data on ripeness, growth rates, and stress conditions.

“We're building physical AI agents that turn unpredictable produce farms into data driven factories,” said Siddharth Jadhav.

Unlike traditional farming methods, where decisions rely on manual inspection and sampling, Polybee’s system evaluates a much larger dataset across entire fields, improving accuracy and reducing uncertainty.

The business model is straightforward. Farmers pay a fixed fee per hectare, and the system is designed to generate a return of at least three to five times the cost within the same growing season.

One of the key advantages of Polybee’s approach is full automation. The drones are self-launching and self-recharging, requiring no human intervention. This eliminates operational friction that has limited the scalability of earlier drone-based solutions.

According to Jadhav, automation was critical to adoption. Without it, the technology would remain impractical for large-scale farming operations.

The drones function as a central intelligence system for farms, collecting and analyzing data to provide actionable insights. These include precise recommendations on when to harvest and expected yield volumes, which directly impact profitability.

The results are already measurable. In open-field crops such as spinach and broccoli, farmers using Polybee’s recommendations have achieved 10% to 15% higher yields. These gains often come from small adjustments, such as harvesting a few days earlier or later.

“Growers can walk away with 10-15% higher yields,” Jadhav explained.

In addition to monitoring, Polybee is expanding into AI-driven pollination, particularly in greenhouse crops like tomatoes and strawberries. The drones use controlled airflow from their propellers to replicate the vibration effect of bumblebees, enabling effective pollination.

This technology is especially valuable in regions where access to natural pollinators is limited or inconsistent. It also reduces reliance on manual labor, which in some cases involves workers physically shaking plants to disperse pollen.

The company follows a phased deployment strategy. Farmers typically begin by testing the system on 10% to 20% of their land, comparing results against traditional methods. Once performance and ROI are validated, the technology is scaled across the entire operation.

This gradual adoption model helps build trust and allows growers to quantify the benefits before committing fully.

Polybee’s broader ambition is to address one of agriculture’s oldest challenges: unpredictability. By increasing visibility and control, the company aims to turn farming into a more precise and predictable business.

Its technology is already being used in both open fields and greenhouses, with applications spanning yield forecasting, crop monitoring, and pollination.

Backed by investors including Jorge Heraud, Polybee is positioning itself at the intersection of deeptech and precision agriculture, where immediate financial returns are still relatively rare.

As the agtech sector continues to evolve, Polybee stands out for delivering what many startups promise but few achieve: clear, short-term economic value for farmers. Its combination of automation, AI, and measurable outcomes could accelerate adoption of advanced technologies across global agriculture.
