Stenon, a Germany-based agtech company, raised $20.5 million in Series B funding on July 1, 2026, to expand its soil nitrogen management platform globally. The round was led by Dutch investor Pymwymic, according to AgFunderNews, at a time when farmers across major agricultural regions are facing sharply higher fertilizer prices due to geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions. The capital will be used to scale real-time soil data tools that help optimize nitrogen use and reduce production costs.

Stenon has raised $20.5 million in Series B financing to expand its real-time soil nitrogen management platform, according to AgFunderNews. The Germany-based agtech startup is positioning its technology as a response to rising fertilizer prices and growing pressure on farm profitability.

The funding round was led by Dutch impact investor Pymwymic, with participation from DeepTech & Climate Fonds and existing backers. The investment arrives during a period of global volatility in agricultural inputs, driven largely by geopolitical tensions and supply chain constraints affecting nitrogen-based fertilizers.

In Europe, fertilizer prices have increased significantly compared with 2024 averages, with reported rises of around 70%. Similar pressures are affecting export-dependent farming systems such as Brazil, where reduced fertilizer application is already impacting production planning and yield expectations, according to AgFunderNews.

Stenon’s approach focuses on precision nitrogen management through real-time field data. Its product, FarmLab, combines hardware sensors with software and AI to provide immediate soil insights, eliminating the delay of traditional laboratory testing.

The system measures plant-available nitrogen along with key soil indicators such as organic carbon, moisture, temperature and variability across fields. This allows farmers to adjust fertilizer application instantly based on local conditions rather than relying on generalized estimates.

Founder and CEO Niels Grabbert said the platform enables farmers to control how and where nitrogen is applied even if global prices remain unstable, a point highlighted by AgFunderNews. He also emphasized that combining nitrogen and soil carbon data improves both short-term decisions and long-term soil productivity management.

The technology is already deployed across several million acres in Europe, Central Asia, Brazil and the United States. According to the company, it delivers yield increases of 2% to 8% across multiple crops and return on investment in nitrogen inputs ranging from 20% to 40%, depending on conditions and crop type.

Investor Pymwymic said the deal reflects the intersection of improved soil health and stronger farm economics, as cited by AgFunderNews. Other participants in the round highlighted the importance of data-driven agriculture in improving efficiency and reducing input waste.

The new funding will support expansion in existing markets, particularly Brazil, where Stenon has established partnerships with agricultural input distributors. It will also be used for further product development, including a next-generation solution that has been in development for several years and is expected to be announced later in 2026.
